#17 Iowa State (3-1) @ #6 Oklahoma State (3-0)

Game Time: 3:30 pm EST

Venue: Boone Pickens Stadium – Stillwater, OK

Network: FOX

Line: OKST – 3.0

The Iowa State vs Oklahoma State game is one of the very action-packed games that will take place this weekend. This game will boast two ranked teams that have been great this season. The lower-ranked team in Oklahoma State will walk into this game undefeated although they have yet to play at a true test. Iowa State will be coming into this game with one loss that came against Louisiana and Week 1. Iowa State has proven they can be dominant though, with wins over Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and TCU. This game will be a thriller and I do believe it will come down to the last minute. Despite the close call, Oklahoma State will keep their playoff hopes alive as they advance to next week as an undefeated team.

Score Prediction: 38 – 33 Oklahoma State

#9 Cincinnati (3-0) @ #16 SMU (5-0)

Game Time: 9 pm EST

Venue: Gerald J. Ford Stadium – Dallas, TX

Network: ESPN2

Line: SMU – 2.5

The Cincinnati vs SMU game will show off a couple of great teams who have failed to fail thus far. Both teams are undefeated, though SMU is one of only three teams to be undefeated through five games. The Cincinnati Bearcats have a slight advantage in this game as they are favored by only 2.5 points. Since both teams have had a great season so far, the only way to pick them apart is to evaluate their closest win. The Cincinnati Bearcats’ closest win came in week 2 as they beat #22 Army by two touchdowns, while at home. With this being the Bearcats closest win, it is clear why they’re favorites this weekend against SMU. SMU’s closest win came last week in an OT thriller against Tulane. I believe that although SMU has proved that they can get consistent wins, the Cincinnati Bearcats will continue to dominate as they look to move even further into the top 10.

Score Prediction: 41 – 28 Cincinnati

#8 Penn State (0-0) @ Indiana (0-0)

Game Time: 3:30 pm EST

Venue: Memorial Stadium – Bloomington, IN

Network: FS1

Line: PSU – 6.5

The final game that I have picked out as one of the top six games of the week is number eight ranked Penn State who will be taking on the Indiana Hoosiers. This week will be the first week of play for the Big Ten so it is unknown how powerful any of their teams are quite yet. One team that has always been able to separate themselves from the rest is the Penn State Nittany Lions.  Penn State has had continued dominance over the last decade and they are ranked in the top 10 to start this season without playing a single game. You may be wondering now why the spread for this game is so small with a top 10 team going against an unranked team. The answer lies in last season. Although Indiana is beginning this season unranked, they showed a lot of potential last season as they went 8-5 and became one of the feared teams in the Big 10. All in all, this game will be a great game to watch this weekend but I believe Penn State will continue their dominance over the rest of the Big Ten as they open up the season with a win.

Score Prediction: 44 – 30 Penn State

#23 NC State (4-1) @ #14 North Carolina (3-1)

Game Time: 12  pm EST

Venue: Kenan Stadium – Chapel Hill, NC

Network: ESPN

Line: UNC – 15.5

Now, this looks more like a basketball rivalry but this game still can get heated. North Carolina lost last weekend to an FSU team who has not played well, which shows that they are not a top 10 team, but don’t get me wrong, they are still pretty good. NC State is also good, and I think that their secondary will be able to slow down the North Carolina offense lead by Sam Howell. UNC will be upset for the second straight week.

Score Prediction: 34 – 28 NC State

#2 Alabama (4-0) @ Tennessee (2-2)

Game Time: 3:30 pm EST

Venue: Neyland Stadium – Knoxville, TN

Network: CBS

Line: ALA – 21.5

Alabama wants to extend their win streak against Tennessee to 14 wins. Alabama has been doing well on offense, passing for over 400 yards in the last 3 games, and their rushing game is what you would expect from Alabama. FANTASTIC. Tennessee has not been able to perform well on offense like they would have wanted to over these past two weeks, but this Alabama secondary has allowed the second-most yards in the SEC. I personally think Tennessee won’t have what it takes to win though.

Score Prediction: 52 – 17 Alabama

#18 Michigan (0-0) @ #21 Minnesota (0-0)

Game Time: 7:30 pm EST

Venue: TCF Bank Stadium – Minneapolis, MN

Network: ABC

Line: MICH – 3.0

BIG 10 football is back and they have some action in the first week with Michigan traveling over to Minnesota. Minnesota is coming off of an 11-2 season and with P.J. Fleck, their defense is good. Despite their dominance of the Defensive side of things, I do think what will make this team good this season is their offense. Minnesota will have star Tanner Morgan at quarterback and some great wide receivers coming back as well. They will be good. Michigan will have a great defense like they usually do, but they will be starting a new quarterback which could pose some challenges. I don’t think this quarterback will be ready and I believe that Minnesota will start off the season strong with a win over Michigan.

Score Prediction: 20 – 17 Minnesota
